Remember.

So obviously today is September 11, the seven year (seriously?! that long?!) anniversary of when we were attacked by terrorists on our own soil.

It seems that a lot of people have forgotten the significance of that.

We're all so cynical now. We complain about the war, forgetting why it began. Maybe it was not conducted as it ought to have been, but we are fighting for a reason. We were attacked. How easily we forget that, and have become desensitized to it.

When WWII was fought, the war wasn't just abroad. The war was at home too. Though there was no fighting here, sacrifices were made to support the war effort. People's daily routines were affected. Everyone came together, pulled together. I realize this war is not to the same magnitude that WWII was, but our attitude has certainly seemed to have changed since then. Now we whine and complain about our administration and the way things are. We forget how blessed we are, and how good we have it.

Though 9-11 was truly tragic, the months to follow, I feel, were the best moments in our country's history in my lifetime, or at least the part of my lifetime that I remember. We were unified. We were ready to do whatever it took to bring justice and peace. We sought God.

How far we have come in seven years... in a direction that we should not be going. We don't deserve to be blessed as God has chosen to bless us. It's time to realize that. It's time to remember. Not remember where you were when you heard the news, not remember what transpired that day, or how patriotic you felt... but remember that we are not invincible. Remember that we are not in control. Remember what God had done. Remember that we are blessed to live in the USA.
